Position Summary and Qualifications
We are in search of a qualified Med-Surg Registered Nurse. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating nursing care for Med/Surg patients. You will engage with patients during the immediate pre, intra, and post-operative periods, oversee the activities of nursing staff during procedures, demonstrate clinical skills, and serve as the team leader in emergency situations. - Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in accordance with nursing practice standards through the nursing process and nursing diagnosis.
- Administer medications as prescribed for a specific group of patients, demonstrating knowledge of their modes of action, side effects, and contraindications.
- Initiate, regulate, and manage IV therapy for assigned patients.
- Assume responsibility for patient placement on the unit and assignment of care responsibilities, considering the complexity of nursing care required for each patient.
- Demonstrate competence in the clinical knowledge, skills, and technology employed in patient care on the unit.
- Evaluate the patient environment for safety and communicate identified concerns to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Provide patient education and keep patients informed of their treatment plans.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards.
Qualifications:
This position is within the 3 Medical Department.
- Valid California RN license.
- Current BCLS certification.
- National RN Certification preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
- Minimum of one year of acute care hospital experience in a specialty area preferred.
