Job Description
Nurse Substitute Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate nurse to join our team as a substitute nurse at Loudoun County Public Schools. As a substitute nurse, you will provide essential healthcare services to students with diverse needs, ensuring their safety and well-being in a school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first aid and basic health care to students with minor injuries or illnesses.
- Administer medication, including routine prescription and non-prescription medicines, as well as emergency medication to prevent anaphylaxis.
- Manage daily care of students with chronic medical concerns according to individualized health care plans.
- Document student clinic visits and care provided daily on the computer; initiate and complete injury/incident reports as required.
- Maintain an organized clinic with necessary items to provide routine first aid and respond to emergencies.
Requirements
To be successful as a substitute nurse at Loudoun County Public Schools, you must possess the following qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- A current Virginia or Compact license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- A current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR/AED certification.
Experience:
- Prior healthcare-related experience will be evaluated to determine applicable substitute placement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and practice of standard first aid and basic health practices.
- Knowledge of basic computer and data entry skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with students requiring health assistance; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to work cooperatively with others.
