Position Overview

The Patient Care Specialist in Family Planning is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient support by performing assessments, administering treatments and medications, conducting diagnostic evaluations, and facilitating follow-up care. This role involves documenting medical histories and symptoms accurately, ensuring thorough records are maintained. The specialist coordinates patient care and serves as a key liaison with various healthcare organizations. Additionally, patient education is provided both prior to and following appointments, particularly regarding the use of medical devices and prescribed treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collects medical and social histories along with vital signs and measurements, documenting them accurately.
  2. Assists healthcare providers during patient examinations.
  3. Prepares and collects specimens for laboratory processing as instructed.
  4. Administers treatments, immunizations, and medications in accordance with established protocols.
  5. Ensures examination rooms are clean, prepared, and adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
  6. Maintains and sterilizes medical equipment, including emergency supplies.
  7. Records and reports all relevant data pertaining to patient care.
  8. Engages in internal meetings and participates in scheduled training sessions.
  9. Continues professional development through ongoing education, including maintaining current CPR certification.
  10. Collaborates with colleagues to ensure a smooth workflow for patient care and documentation.
  11. Conducts assigned laboratory tests, ensuring proper control measures and record-keeping.
  12. Respects and upholds patient confidentiality, rights, and dignity in all interactions.
  13. Prepares for patient visits by reviewing and updating charts, gathering necessary information such as lab results and reports.
  14. Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
  15. Adheres to all relevant policies and procedures, including office and state regulations.
  16. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a current, unencumbered LPN or RN License in the State of Kansas.
  2. CPR certification for Healthcare Providers is mandatory.
  3. Current vaccination record in accordance with ACIP Healthcare Workers Recommendations.
  4. Preferred experience of 6-12 months in a clinical environment.
