The specialist coordinates patient care and serves as a key liaison with various healthcare organizations. Additionally, patient education is provided both prior to and following appointments, particularly regarding the use of medical devices and prescribed treatments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collects medical and social histories along with vital signs and measurements, documenting them accurately.
- Assists healthcare providers during patient examinations.
- Prepares and collects specimens for laboratory processing as instructed.
- Administers treatments, immunizations, and medications in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensures examination rooms are clean, prepared, and adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
- Maintains and sterilizes medical equipment, including emergency supplies.
- Records and reports all relevant data pertaining to patient care.
- Engages in internal meetings and participates in scheduled training sessions.
- Continues professional development through ongoing education, including maintaining current CPR certification.
- Collaborates with colleagues to ensure a smooth workflow for patient care and documentation.
- Conducts assigned laboratory tests, ensuring proper control measures and record-keeping.
- Respects and upholds patient confidentiality, rights, and dignity in all interactions.
- Prepares for patient visits by reviewing and updating charts, gathering necessary information such as lab results and reports.
- Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
- Adheres to all relevant policies and procedures, including office and state regulations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a current, unencumbered LPN or RN License in the State of Kansas.
- CPR certification for Healthcare Providers is mandatory.
- Current vaccination record in accordance with ACIP Healthcare Workers Recommendations.
- Preferred experience of 6-12 months in a clinical environment.
