Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Education and Development
    • Support the education and transition of nurse externs and residents into their professional role
    • Assist with education for new nursing hires during the onboarding and orientation period
    • Collaborate with the Professional Development Specialist to develop and update educational content
  • Clinical Leadership
    • Model excellence and advanced nursing practice through the utilization of evidence-based processes and lifelong learning
    • Act as a clinical resource for staff and leadership to elevate practice and professionalism
  • Process Improvement
    • Ensure processes, policies, and staff performance are consistent with current, recognized practice guidelines and regulatory standards
    • Initiate skills development programs within established care models
  • Quality and Safety
    • Provide direction and support to clinical staff in clinical decision making, priority setting, resuscitation, stabilization, crisis intervention, and disaster preparedness and response
    • Maintain educational and competency records in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher, or current enrollment in a RN to BSN program
  • Experience
    • Minimum 2 years experience caring for patients in a unit of hire
    • Educator/instructor experience preferred
  • Certifications
    • Registered Nurse licensure to work in the state of TN
    • BCLS certification
    • ACLS, PALS, Neonatal, Trauma, and/or ABLS certification required based on area of assignment
