Job Summary

Open Arms Care Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a home-based setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent Open Arms Care Corporation in a Positive and Professional Manner
    • Represent the organization in community meetings, events, and social functions in a positive and professional manner.
  • Provide Day-to-Day Support and Care
    • Provide day-to-day organization and implementation of activities that promote a positive and organized environment.
    • Ensure a person-centered, organized, non-reactive, and independent environment for individuals.
  • Make Decisions and Take Action
    • Make decisions independently regarding best practices, quality assurance, risk management, and problem-solving.
    • Respond timely to and document serious injuries.
  • Coach, Teach, and Mentor
    • Coach, teach, and mentor individuals in all aspects of home management and personal independence.
    • Teach and promote individual rights and self-advocacy.
  • Engage in Active Treatment and Support Planning
    • Engage clients in ongoing, meaningful active treatment and individual support plans (ISPs).
    • Implement programs and services according to the ISP and CMS regulations.
  • Advocate and Communicate
    • Advocate for each client's specific needs and personal welfare in the home and community.
    • Communicate and participate in the inter-disciplinary process, including individual support plans, behavior management, and incident reports.
  • Transportation and Scheduling
    • Transport clients to appointments and recreational activities on a regular basis.
    • Coordinate, schedule, and process required documents, files, and reports in a timely manner.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Document client participation and progress in training objectives and programs.
    • Ensure day-to-day assigned tasks are completed.
  • Teamwork and Communication
    • Communicate and participate with the inter-disciplinary team.
    • Interact with client family members and conservators, and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.
  • Training and Development
    • Attend required trainings and meetings.
    • Remain current on all certifications.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Provide support and services to all clients across the local operation when necessary.
    • Transport clients to medical appointments, Enrichment Center, and client outings as assigned.
    • Responsible for maintaining work schedules and monitoring time off.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience
    • High school graduate or GED preferred.
    • Valid driver's license required.
    • Ability to lift repetitively a minimum of 50 pounds.
    • Good oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
