Electrical Engineer - Senior

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer - Senior to join our team. As a key member of our Water business, you will lead the electrical discipline design and engineering of impactful projects that range in size and complexity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as Engineer-of-Record for projects and/or project components of varying degrees of complexity.
  • Evaluate, select, specify, and review shop drawings for electrical systems and products for a project.
  • Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilize technologies in development of three dimensional models of electrical systems.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, training and mentorship for junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various phases of design and construction, including plans, single line diagrams, ladder control schematics, equipment layouts and details.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
  • Develop and manage the electrical discipline scope, budget, staffing and schedule for projects.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
  • Conduct quality assurance and constructability reviews of project deliverables produced by peers and subordinate engineers.
  • Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group as well as maintenance and update of existing standards.
  • Assist with the development of proposals for projects.
  • Conduct and/or oversee reviews required to assess field conditions.
  • Conduct and/or oversee construction phase services, responds to RFIs, reviews shop drawings, and conducts reviews of construction for general conformance with design.
Qualifications:
  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of industry standards as well as electrical and building codes.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications, specifically in the municipal water/wastewater industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, the National Electrical Code, means and methods, materials, and industry standards, particularly related to the water/wastewater industry.
  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
  • Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal and interview skills.
  • Well-versed understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoDesk products (i.e. AutoCAD) and/or Bentley products (i.e. Microstation). Familiarity with Revit is an asset.
  • Experience with specialized power system software such as ETAP and/or SKM PowerTools is an asset.
  • Mentoring and professional development of other personnel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising junior staff.
