Position Overview

The Public Sector Division at Newberry Group is on the lookout for skilled Cybersecurity Operations Analysts to support a 24/7 Cyber Network Defense (CND) operation for Department of Defense networks. This role involves conducting real-time cyber threat intelligence assessments, correlating significant security events, analyzing network traffic through raw packet data, and coordinating resources during incident response efforts.

Compensation

Starting at $95,000+

We currently offer a hybrid work schedule, which includes two days in the office and three days of remote work, subject to mission requirements. Candidates can express their preference for one of three available shifts: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, or 11pm-7am, with flexible hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze DoD and open-source intelligence for potential threats.
  • Identify Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and integrate them into security sensors and SIEMs.
  • Triage alerts to detect malicious activities on client networks.
  • Support T1 analysts with triage and analysis tasks.
  • Conduct moderate-level cyber analysis of potential incidents.
  • Report incidents to clients and USCYBERCOM.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; additional experience or Cyber certifications may substitute for a degree.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, networking protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, and common security measures.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong communication skills, capable of producing detailed technical reports on analytical findings.
  • DoD 8570 IAT level II or higher certification, such as CompTIA Security+ CE, ISC2 SSCP, or SANS GSEC, is required prior to employment.
  • DoD 8570 CSSP-A level Certification (e.g., CEH, CySA+, GCIA) must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing training and proficiency in the cybersecurity field, with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Cyber Network Defense (Protect, Detect, Respond, and Sustain) within a Computer Incident Response organization.
  • Understanding of the lifecycle of network threats, attack vectors, and exploitation methods.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, networking protocols, and security elements.
  • Hands-on experience analyzing logs and network data to support incident investigations.
  • Familiarity with enterprise SIEM platforms (e.g., ArcSight, Splunk, QRadar).
  • Proficiency with security tools such as Anti-Virus, IDS/IPS, and Network Forensics.
  • Experience with malware analysis and Unix/Linux command line.
  • Knowledge of scripting and programming.
  • Familiarity with Intelligence Driven Defense and Cyber Kill Chain methodologies.
  • Existing 8570 CSSP Analyst Certifications (e.g., CEH, CySA+).
