Position Overview

The Orthopedic Technologist, operating under the supervision of Licensed Healthcare Professionals, plays a crucial role in the application, modification, repair, fitting, and removal of various casts, splints, and braces, including intricate orthopedic devices. Responsibilities encompass the application of both upper and lower extremity casts, ranging from straightforward to complex, utilizing diverse materials. The technologist is also tasked with the arrangement, assembly, and adjustment of traction apparatus, as well as the application and modification of braces and splints.

Key Responsibilities

1. Apply and remove orthopedic casts and splints with precision.

2. Maintain and organize tools and equipment necessary for orthopedic procedures.

3. Ensure accurate record-keeping and inventory management of supplies.

Essential Qualifications

Experience

A minimum of one year of relevant experience in orthopedic technology is required.

Certifications

CPR certification is mandatory. Additionally, candidates must possess either Orthopaedic Technologist certification (OTC) or Registered Orthopaedic Technologist (ROT) certification.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is essential, along with the completion of an accredited Orthopedic Technology training program.

Desired Skills

  1. Ability to participate in an on-call schedule and respond to urgent requests.
  2. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  3. Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  4. Capability to document patient information in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

  7. Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.
  8. Self-driven with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  9. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
