Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review medical records and obtain pertinent information from hospitals and referring physicians' offices.
  • Prepare patients for exams and facilitate patient flow.
  • Obtain medical information from patients and document in medical records.
  • Perform tests and procedures as ordered.
  • Provide patient and family education.
  • Write and prepare prescriptions using electronic physician signatures.
  • Assist with transfers of patients.
  • Monitor and stock medication closets.
  • Operate vehicles safely to perform required duties.
  • Travel and perform CMA duties with Outreach Clinics as requested.
  • Complete Iowa Heart Center CMA competencies.
  • Assist with the training of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA).
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification must be obtained within the first year of employment and maintained thereafter.
  • Clinic/physician office experience is preferred.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained by the end of the orientation period (approximately six weeks).
  • Valid Driver's/Chauffeur's License required, must meet Mercy's Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per state law.
  • Cardiovascular Medical Terminology class completion within one year of hire.
