Assistant Professor of Musical Theater

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Musical Theater to join our faculty. The successful candidate will have a strong background in musical theater performance, music direction, musical theater history, and literature.
Responsibilities- Teach a variety of courses at all levels, including musical theater performance, history of musical theater, and musical theater audition.
- Engage in inclusive pedagogy and the advancement of inclusion, equity, diversity, and cultural wealth.
- Serve as Music Director or Associate Music Director for department productions of varying size and scope.
- Engage in continued professional creative work and/or research.
- Participate in service and committee work for the Department, College of Visual and Performing Arts, and Syracuse University.
- Relevant advanced degree required.
- Demonstrated professional experience, teaching, and creative activity that will contribute to the advancement of equity, diversity, and cultural wealth.
- Demonstrated excellence as a pianist, vocal coach, and/or music director.
- Ability to adapt and possibly arrange music, as needed, in conjunction with coursework and/or production preparation.
- Extensive knowledge of the Musical Theater repertoire.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence.
- Commitment to the development of a curriculum that responds effectively to the artistic needs of an ever-changing profession, and that prepares a diverse array of students to assume leadership roles.
