Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN Clinical Mentor to join our team at Medstar. As a Clinical Mentor, you will play a critical role in guiding and supporting newly hired and current clinicians in their field training experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to new hires throughout their first year of employment, focusing on improving clinical associate engagement and retention.
  • Offer education and support to current field staff in clinical decision-making, patient care, and case management.
  • Perform patient care and case management duties as needed, with a focus on managing complex care patients.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Inter-professional Education and Development, RN Clinical Training Specialist, and Operations Directors to provide clinical leadership and resources to field staff.
  • Contribute to the achievement of established goals and objectives, adhering to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams, meetings, and committees, representing the department and agency in community outreach efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program or a combination of education with 3 years of relevant nursing experience, including 3 years of experience in a certified home care agency or hospice.
  • 3-4 years of relevant nursing experience with an Associate's degree or 2 years of relevant nursing experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Prior preceptor experience is preferred.
  • Valid RN license in all jurisdictions in which the employee provides services to patients, Maryland, DC, or Virginia, or any combination based on work location(s).
  • Valid State Driver's License in good standing with a dependable vehicle for transportation.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • IV therapy, Foley catheter, venipuncture, wound care/vac, and comprehensive medical-surgical skills.
  • Organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of home equipment/DME, home care reimbursement, and regulations governing LPN's and HHA's.
