Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • The Behavioral Support Consultant offers guidance, coaching, and both individual and group presentations, along with classroom assistance, instructional and behavioral strategies for general and special education teachers, site staff, and others involved in providing educational services to elementary and middle school students.
  • Conduct thorough Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), draft legally sound behavioral analysis reports, and create Behavior Support Plans (BSP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Establish consultation relationships with school special and general education service providers. Train, guide, and oversee behavior interventions for teachers and KIPP SoCal team members working with students facing behavioral challenges.
  • Implement interventions and train KIPP SoCal team members and administrators in behavioral strategies for special education students.
  • Analyze behavior from a functional standpoint and devise daily positive interventions.
  • Engage as part of a multidisciplinary team and support all school sites and activities as directed.
  • Collaborate with various service providers and agencies as needed and directed by the School Psychology Program Manager.
  • Research interventions, treatment methods, and assessment tools and resources.
  • Deliver positive behavior support presentations, training, and professional development as required.
  • Participate in meetings, including Individual Educational Plans (IEPs), 504 meetings, and Student Study Teams.
  • Assist School Leaders, Program Managers, or assigned teachers of behaviorally-focused programs for individuals with special needs.
  • Train staff and oversee data collection, lesson development, and the implementation of Behavior Support Plans (BSP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Communicate with parents regarding the behavioral needs of students as directed by the School Psychology Program Manager.
  • Perform related duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of successful experience in providing behavioral services.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Progress towards certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • A valid California Teaching Credential authorizing K-12 service in core subject areas, or a Specialist Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential (highly preferred).
  • Experience working with students with emotional disturbances.
  • Experience with students on the Autism Spectrum.
  • Experience with students facing mental health challenges.
