Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs and develop effective treatment plans using respiratory therapy processes.
  • Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues, and assist physicians with bedside procedures as needed.
  • Provide medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, and troubleshoot issues as necessary.
  • Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients and facilitate clinical problem-solving.
  • Under physician direction, adapt and comply with policies and procedures for various service areas, perform tasks, and maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively, provide clear and concise patient handoff, and promote a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures.
  • Teach, educate, and precept new teammates, orientees, and students.
Requirements
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which you practice.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 12 months, or active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if received prior to January 1, 2019.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
