Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, as well as conducting preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, including crushing equipment, kiln equipment, hydrator equipment, packaging equipment, belts, conveyors, screws, elevator, scales, dust collectors, fines, dust bins, product bins, and mobile equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, including weekly execution of equipment inspections and repairs.
  • Perform assigned kiln outage work, including refractory work, fabrication of process parts, welding repairs, and rebuilding of mechanical processes.
  • Inspect and operate mobile equipment, including front-end loader, bobcat, forklift, manlift, 38-ton crane, and any other equipment used in support of maintenance operations.
  • Work co-operatively with other Maintenance and Production employees with minimum supervision.
  • Complete maintenance and inventory/parts documents and records.
  • Monitor work done for adherence to legislated requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols while executing Maintenance responsibilities.
  • Report production/electrical/mechanical issues to Maintenance Supervisor as they arise.
  • Perform scheduled and reactive mobile equipment maintenance for loaders, haul trucks, track mobile, sweeper car, plow truck, pick-up trucks, manlift, 38-ton crane, and any other vehicle as necessary.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Millwright certification program is offered to all Maintenance 3 employees who want to voluntarily accept the education opportunity.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak professionally and effectively with other employees of the organization.
  • Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to deal with both standardized situations and environments that change real-time during maintenance work progressions.
Work Environment

The employee frequently works near safety guarded moving mechanical parts; indoors in a semi-climate controlled environment; in elevated/high places (elevated catwalk); in outside weather conditions; and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, airborne particles, petroleum products, winter and summer temperatures while performing work outside, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud (hearing protected provided for louder environments).
