Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Lead Teacher to join our team at South Middlesex Opportu. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for our children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in children.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment that supports the needs of all children.
  • Communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues to ensure a positive and supportive relationship.
  • Assess and record children's behavior to inform planning and make referrals as needed.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment by participating in staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Engage with families through regular communication, home visits, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee, and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with program, department, agency, and funder requirements, as well as SMOC policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • EEC Lead PS Teacher certificate preferred.
  • Degree in ECE or related field preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working with diverse backgrounds and able to effectively communicate with children, families, and co-workers.
  • Bi-lingual skills a plus.
  • Priority given to past or present Head Start parents for positions for which they are qualified in the Head Start program.

Organizational Relationship:

  • Directly reports to Satellite Director.
  • Indirectly reports to N/A.
  • Direct reports of this position are n/A.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to handle the physical aspects of the position, including the lifting of a child.
  • Recent physical exam determining good health and meeting all EEC requirements.
  • Prefer -COVID19 Vaccination.

Working Conditions:

As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Teacher will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
