STEAM Lab Instructor

Job Summary:

The South Middlesex Opportunity Council is seeking a skilled and dynamic STEAM Lab Specialist to join our team. As a STEAM Lab Specialist, you will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging learning experiences centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math for preschool and younger school-age children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver project-based learning experiences that promote STEAM education and development.
• Develop and implement schedules that meet the needs of all preschool and younger school-age children under the SMOC umbrella.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and site directors to enhance classroom curriculum and create innovative teaching methods.
• Prepare and lead special STEAM activities, field trips, and guest speaker visits.
• Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, including the cleanliness and organization of the STEAM lab classroom and supply rooms.
• Document curriculum and schedules for each class to ensure a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time.

Requirements:

• Background in Early Childhood Education and STEAM
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Vaccinations and a valid DCF, CORI/SORI background check

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances. The STEAM Lab Specialist will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.
