About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Gastroenterologist to join our team at the National Medical Association. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge in the field of Gastroenterology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform surgical procedures, including proctoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy, with expertise in all areas of Gastroenterology.
  • Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders, including esophageal dilation and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy.
  • Administer moderate sedation and supervise/teach surgical residents.
  • Provide consultation in an outpatient clinic setting and on inpatient wards.
  • Participate in committees and contribute to the development of medical policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
  • Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
  • Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
  • CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification).
  • Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.
  • Contract: No Physician Employment Contract.
  • Contract BuyOut Program: This position may be eligible for the Physician contract buy out program, which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years).
