Position: HVAC Technician - Level 4/5

OVERVIEW:
SpaceX is dedicated to the vision of enabling human exploration beyond Earth. As part of this mission, we are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to ensure the optimal performance of our HVAC systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of HVAC support systems, including air handlers, chilled water systems, condenser pumps, cooling towers, and related components.
  • Implement and uphold a preventative maintenance schedule for HVAC systems associated with launch operations.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering teams and management to ensure systems operate at peak efficiency.
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards and SpaceX procedures, including safety and quality protocols set forth by OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, ASME, and NEC.
  • Execute ductwork modifications and perform various repairs as needed.
  • Conduct brazing, soldering, evacuation, and charging of refrigerants.
  • Manage water piping modifications and insulation repairs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in HVAC, pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certification or degree in HVAC technology from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, electrical safety, pneumatic principles, and mechanical fasteners.
  • Universal certification from the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI).
  • Knowledge of high-pressure and flammable gases, as well as refrigeration gases.
  • Experience with HEPA filters and standard air handling unit filtration systems.
  • Basic understanding of refrigeration theory, motors, and mechanics.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in interpreting schematic diagrams and architectural plans.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks requiring standing, kneeling, and working in confined spaces, as well as lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to fumes, odors, and noise.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
HVAC Technician/Level 4: $33.00/hour
HVAC Technician/Level 5: $48.00/hour

Your compensation will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. In addition to base salary, you may be eligible for long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and comprehensive benefits including medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, and paid parental leave, among others.
