Job Summary

The Clinical Unit Leader (CUL) is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for providing leadership and guidance to staff in a fast-paced clinical environment. As a Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong clinical background, the CUL will oversee the daily operations of the unit, ensuring that high-quality patient care is delivered in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide guidance and direction to staff, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Clinical Practice: Rotate through the unit to provide clinical assessment, mentoring, coaching, and evaluation of staff.
  • Management of Clinical Area: Participate in the development and implementation of unit goals and objectives, ensuring that staffing needs are met and patient care is prioritized.
  • QA and Research: Collaborate with the team to plan, coordinate, and evaluate unit quality metrics and quality improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with the expectation of obtaining a BSN within five years.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year experience in an acute care environment.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Michigan Nursing License, Valid BLS certification, and ACLS certification within one year of hire.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills necessary for effective leadership of the patient care team.
