Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Audiologist Technician to join our team at UTHealth Houston. As a key member of our audiology department, you will be responsible for performing testing and maintaining data related to audiology services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hearing screenings and first follow-up screenings using automated equipment for all babies born at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
  • Maintain TEHDI database and upload results from screenings into TEHDI database. Enter results into EMR.
  • Provide written information to families regarding hearing, developmental milestones, and follow-up instructions. Schedule diagnostic follow-up appointments with audiologist.
  • Provide patient's family with information regarding the purpose of newborn hearing screenings and how they work.
  • Maintain equipment including daily biological check, cleaning of equipment, inventory, and ordering of supplies.
  • May perform diagnostic, counseling, and rehabilitative services to clinical patients as directed by supervising audiologist.
Requirements
  • Computer skills including basic data entry, ability to utilize automated auditory brainstem response equipment and some specialized audiology equipment, basic verbal communication skills, and good interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to complete training including automated hearing screening, data entry, EMR training, infection control, universal precautions, and CPR.
  • Minimum Experience: Health care experience supplemented by work in the field of audiology preferred.
