Job Summary

The Lead Ophthalmic Tech Specialist is responsible for providing direction and education to staff at assigned locations, serving as a role model and subject matter expert for all technical questions regarding ophthalmic procedures and techniques. This position is responsible for all regulatory activities at assigned locations and performs duties of the Ophthalmic Technician/Technologist as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Chief Ophthalmic Tech Specialist to provide direction and education to staff.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for all technical questions regarding ophthalmic procedures and techniques.
  • Perform duties of the Ophthalmic Technician/Technologist as necessary.
  • Oversee all regulatory activities at assigned locations.
  • Organize and delegate work to clinical staff to ensure a smooth and consistent clinic flow.
Requirements

This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in ophthalmic services, with a preference for 10 years of experience and experience in academic medical environments. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree in health science or a related field preferred.

This position is responsible for handling all day-to-day operations of outpatient clinics independently under the direction of the attending physician. The Lead Ophthalmic Tech Specialist will take actions without prior approval, including preliminary patient work-ups and leadership of staff, while seeking advice and guidance from the attending physician or Chief Ophthalmic Tech Specialist as needed.
