Position: Senior Indirect Tax Accountant

Employment Type: Direct Hire

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Indirect Tax Accountant to enhance our Tax team at Solugenix Corp. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance and accuracy in our tax processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review sales/use, business & occupation, and gross receipts tax returns for various jurisdictions.
  • Oversee and validate exemption/resale certificates from clients.
  • Maintain the management system for exemption/resale certificates.
  • Process tax adjustments for legitimate non-taxable sales within the ERP system.
  • Provide expert guidance to business partners regarding product taxability and jurisdiction-specific tax nuances.
  • Conduct research and ensure adherence to state and local tax regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation for sales/use tax audits.
  • Prepare and upload necessary journal entries.
  • Reconcile sales and use tax accounts in the general ledger.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements.
  • Manage special projects and additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in indirect tax and accounting within a complex, multi-state organization.
  • Familiarity with Avalara (AvaTax & ECM) and web-based tax research platforms.
  • Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel functions (v-lookups, pivot tables, macros).
  • Experience in the construction or building distribution sector is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Capability to learn the existing ERP system and accounting workflows.
