Culinary Specialist

The Cook is a key member of our culinary team, responsible for providing high-quality food service to our residents. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Exemplify high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Prepare and serve menu cycle programs that meet nutritional and dietary requirements.
• Exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency in food preparation and presentation.
• Visit residents periodically to evaluate food service and make revisions to improve operations and procedures.
• Maintain a sanitary work environment and conform to local codes and policies regarding food storage, handling, and serving.
• Perform administrative duties, such as completing forms and reports, to ensure control of equipment and supplies.
• Plan and prepare food items for activities, marketing, and special events as requested.
• Display tact and friendliness when interacting with residents, families, and visitors.
• Encourage teamwork and support a positive and professional image through actions and dress.

• 1 year of experience in restaurant or senior living cooking or equivalent.
• Ability to follow approved recipes and menus for regular and therapeutic diets.
• Ability to make independent decisions without supervision.
• Ability to interact tactfully with residents, family members, team members, and the general public.
• Ability to communicate directions to all levels of team members, both in writing and verbally.
• Good character and a high degree of personal integrity.
• Sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults.
• Genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of older people and their families.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $17.00-$18.00, depending on experience. We also provide a comprehensive medical plan, dental/vision/life/disability benefits, 401(k) Plan, paid holidays and time off, and employee assistance programs.
