About the Role

This part-time position is for Roving Assistants who work on days when school is in session for students, Monday to Friday. The role requires the ability to report to all locations within the Portland Public Schools District (City of Portland), so flexibility is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assistant Rovers receive continued assignments throughout the school year, working up to 5 hours per day.
  • Assignments are made via phone call between 6:00AM - 6:30AM.
  • Shifts vary and are typically from 2 to 5 hours daily, scheduled between 7:30AM and 2:30PM.
  • Additional optional summer work options are available (not guaranteed).

Requirements
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently following verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; push or pull lbs.; use a full range of motion at standard height work stations; able to work in uniform.
  • Ability to receive directions in English over the phone and at the work site.
  • Ability to work with money and make changes while serving.
  • Multnomah County Food Handler's Certification (required to begin work).
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to work with a computerized cash register.
  • Willingness to travel to all schools throughout the district.
