Position Summary:


The Patient Admission Coordinator is an entry-level role focused on accurately gathering and entering essential financial and demographic information for all patients.

This includes, but is not limited to, pre-certifications, authorizations, insurance details, patient classifications, payers, and compliance-related regulatory guidelines. The incumbent will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of various payer categories, including Commercial, Managed Care, Self-Pay, and Medicare. The role involves ensuring that all records are accurately processed daily and acting as a liaison between patients and healthcare professionals.

Exceptional customer service skills are essential to meet the needs of our community and clients.


Responsibilities:
1. Register and admit patients professionally, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

2. Determine the appropriate patient classification based on individual needs and physician directives.

3. Document account notes utilizing the financial system.

4. Educate patients and their families regarding consent for treatment, advance directives, medical releases, patient rights, and billing policies.

5. Generate and distribute daily census reports.

6. Collect co-payments and deposits to support positive cash flow.

7. Process payments for hospital accounts, issue receipts, and reconcile transactions at the end of each shift.

8. Verify eligibility for Tenncare and Worker's Compensation.

9. Complete pre-registration for all patient types.

10. Adjust patient classifications on laboratory specimens as necessary.

11. Establish payment arrangements for private pay patients facing financial difficulties or refer them to the Business Office.

12. Secure and return all patient valuables.

13. Review physician orders to ensure diagnoses and signatures are present.

14. Compile and distribute admission packets for patients requiring overnight stays.

15. Adhere to policies, procedures, and safety standards, completing required educational assignments annually. Engage in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

16. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Registration Supervisor and Business Office Manager.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education:


No specific educational requirements; any combination of formal education and/or relevant work experience demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform essential job functions is acceptable, typically equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to candidates with a high school diploma or GED.



Minimum Experience:
No prior experience required. Strong customer service and computer skills are preferred. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential.

Licensure Requirement:
No licensure required.
