Position Overview:

The role involves measuring, threading, adjusting flange fit, and facing the flange on pipe segments. Responsibilities also include operating machinery and utilizing a crane for pipe handling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess fabrication specifications indicated on each pipe (5%)
  • Secure the pipe in the machine, ensuring proper alignment, and tighten for processing. The operator will then machine tapered threads into the pipe, verifying measurements such as thread depth and taper accuracy (30%)
  • After threading, test the flange to ensure proper fit onto the pipe, making necessary adjustments if issues arise (10%)
  • Apply adhesive to the pipe and flange, using machinery to secure the flange onto the pipe (20%)
  • Utilize cutting tools to achieve a flush fit of the flange on the pipe (30%)
  • Remove the finished pipe from the machine and place it on designated boards (5%)

Required Skills and Attributes:

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position is situated in a heavy industrial setting, exposing employees to various conditions such as extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, oils, and airborne particles.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical activities may include standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, driving, and sitting.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production area, including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection as necessary.
