Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Piedmont HealthCare. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment for examinations, adhering to infectious disease and patient safety protocols.
  • Explain the ultrasound process to patients and help them relax during examinations.
  • Ensure examination orders are complete and meet the standard of medical necessity.
  • Review patient medical records and perform examinations in accordance with professional and facility protocols.
  • Apply independent judgment in acquiring accurate examination images and incidental findings.
  • Review and integrate images, prepare preliminary reports, and identify limitations during examinations.
  • Disinfect ultrasound equipment and transducers between patients, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Assist with training new staff sonographers and maintain quality control tests.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, directors, and physicians.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED, completion of a certified Ultrasound program accredited by CAAHEP.
  • Minimum of one year or more experience and/or training in sonography.
  • ARDMS registered or registry eligible, CPR and BLS certificates maintained.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of ultrasound protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Skills in producing high-quality ultrasound examinations and meeting physician standards.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment and maintain cooperative relationships with interdepartmental personnel.
Environmental/Working Conditions

Exposure to communicable diseases, blood and bodily fluids, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to radiology settings.

Physical/Mental Demands

Combination of walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and transferring activities. Must be able to use correct body mechanics to assist patients appropriately.
