Job Title: Senior Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Air Force Research Laboratory (ARFL), Edwards, AFB, CA. As a Senior Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and working on the design and development of propulsion systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers
  • Design and develop propulsion systems, including chemical and fuels systems
  • Work with systems personnel to ensure compliance with propellants and safety protocols
  • Write and review work assignments for technicians
  • Visit test pads to ensure work is progressing as planned
  • Serve as part of the test team
  • Develop relationships with technicians and create a strong team environment
  • Work independently and communicate progress

Requirements:

  • Experience leading a team of engineers
  • Ability to perform assessments of materials to ensure compatibility and function
  • Strong background in safe approach to tasks
  • Familiarity with piping, flanges, and other systems related to test hardware
  • Ability to serve on a test team of propulsion systems
  • Must be able to work with a group through a test cycle from build-up through test shut down
  • Write and edit test procedures
  • Write and edit work authorizations for technicians
  • Provide routine briefings to senior engineer, site scheduler, customers, and program management
  • Assist in test readiness prior to receiving customer's permission to test
  • Must be able to gain access to customer's computer networks
  • Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills

Education/Experience:

  • Engineering degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Technical writing ability
  • Experience in engineering design software
  • Demonstrated increase in experience and abilities

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work at heights and depths
  • Work overtime with little notification
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat and extreme cold

Clearance:

Ability to obtain DOD Secret Clearance required
