Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Research Nurse to provide essential support services aligned with the operational goals of the National Institute on Drug Abuse. This full-time role is based in Baltimore, MD, and focuses on delivering high-quality services through the execution of support tasks.
- Engage in direct patient care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to formulate and communicate a comprehensive care plan that integrates clinical needs with research objectives.
- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for a diverse patient population with varying health requirements.
- Administer nursing care in accordance with established protocols, including procedures such as blood draws, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and medication administration.
- Evaluate complex health education needs tailored to individual patient demographics.
- Act as a liaison, providing study-related information to referring physicians, advocacy groups, NIH offices, and potential study participants.
- Serve as an advocate for patients involved in research studies.
- Address and resolve any issues that may arise during the course of studies.
- Assist in the implementation, monitoring, data collection, and reporting of all protocol elements.
- Manage research data through databases to ensure accurate and reliable data entry.
- Oversee activities related to clinical protocols, including patient recruitment, retention, trial progress, and necessary extensions or renewals of ongoing trials.
- Provide ongoing support to research team members as a nursing resource.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- A valid Nursing License in the state of Maryland.
- At least FOUR (4) years of experience in nursing, research, and/or clinical settings.
- Proficiency in Phlebotomy.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPR Certification.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Previous experience in Neurology, Psychiatry, and/or Addiction treatment settings is advantageous.
