Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing sequences, processes, and tooling to optimize production efficiency.
  • Provide on-going floor support and coordinate efforts to improve producibility and continuous process improvement.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, performance specifications, and design information to ensure manufacturability.
  • Extract and develop manufacturing concepts and methods to support customer and company requirements.
  • Provide input in concurrent engineering design activities to ensure producibility at the production phase of manufacturing.
  • Determine critical processes for trend analysis and perform analysis to improve manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Support the coordination of Material Review Board (MRB) efforts to implement corrective and preventive action.
  • Create assembly instructions and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Develop manufacturing processes with formalized metrics to lead towards Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost and waste.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Department to implement Design For Assembly (DFA) concepts and participate in engineering technical reviews.
  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements.
  • Support QA in investigations of failures/defects and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
  • Eight+ years of experience designing or building electro-mechanical assemblies in an ISO 9001 or AS9100 production environment.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Management/leadership experience working with multiple disciplines to achieve common goals.
  • Experience setting up shop floors for varying production models.
  • Able to read and comprehend engineering drawings, Bills of Materials, and operational procedures.
  • Can produce assembly and test documentation for assigned products.
  • Experience in producibility engineering/ DFA in an electro-mechanical environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software.
  • Able to obtain a Secret security clearance. Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four-year college degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Microsoft SharePoint experience.
  • Deltek Costpoint ERP experience.
  • PTC Windchill PLM experience.
  • iBase-t SoluminaTM MES experience.
  • CAD proficiency; Dassault Systéms SolidWorks preferred.
  • Practitioner experience using a Manufacturing Execution System/MES; Solumina preferred.
Additional Requirements

Experience creating and conducting training curriculum for production team.
