Summary:

The role of the Special Education Teacher is to facilitate the educational process by providing tailored support to students with diverse learning needs. This involves supervising students in various settings, crafting lesson plans, and delivering individualized instruction that aligns with established curriculum standards. Collaboration with fellow educators, support staff, and administrators is essential to address instructional challenges and engage with students' families regarding their academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engages with all stakeholders (e.g., students, parents, colleagues) to foster positive relationships and uphold high expectations for student achievement.
  • Designs and implements instructional strategies (e.g., lesson plans, individualized learning approaches) to ensure active participation and engagement in the learning process.
  • Partners with students to develop a shared vision for learning, including setting classroom goals and recognizing achievements.
  • Assesses student performance through data analysis to inform instructional adjustments and enhance learning outcomes.
  • Utilizes current best practices and resources to support student learning and align with educational standards.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and reports to comply with educational policies and regulations.
  • Establishes and manages classroom procedures to create a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Models professional behavior and interpersonal skills to promote a respectful and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Supervises instructional staff and volunteers to ensure effective classroom operations.
  • Participates in meetings and professional development opportunities to share information and enhance teaching practices.
  • Responds to emergencies and safety concerns in accordance with established protocols.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree required. Current Louisiana teacher certification.
