Job Description

Atlanta International School (AIS) is seeking a highly motivated and organized Maker Space Assistant and Project Manager to join our Innovation and Research department. The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Director of Innovation and teachers in the primary and middle schools to deliver the school's STEAM program, which includes hands-on, project-based, and inquiry learning experiences for young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the overall day-to-day operation of the AIS FabLab (Maker Space / STEAM Lab)
  • Plan and deliver the STEAM program, coordinating logistics and hands-on learning experiences
  • Promote cross-disciplinary opportunities in the AIS FabLab
  • Provide excellent service to AIS students, faculty, and staff
  • Maintain the AIS FabLab in a clean, safe, and orderly condition
  • Optimize and prepare the use of the AIS FabLab and equipment for student and class projects
  • Assist with the circulation of AIS FabLab equipment and materials
  • Develop and create displays and announcements to encourage AIS FabLab usage
  • Perform clerical duties, including scheduling, digital communication, and ordering
  • Assist teachers and students in locating and selecting materials for STEAM-related projects
  • Maintain safety and behavior of students
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about FabLab patrons

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Proficiency in English or English and one or more languages
  • Experience with technology and hands-on learning experiences for children
  • A commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Google applications
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, reach, and lift light weights
  • Able to work in a team environment and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a positive attitude toward work assignments
