Assistant Director of Housekeeping Job Description

The Assistant Director of Housekeeping at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of the housekeeping department, ensuring a clean and safe environment for guests and team members. This role involves managing labor, inventory, and developing a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect rooms daily to maintain departmental standards
  • Analyze daily room turns and make procedural adjustments as needed
  • Assist in managing housekeeping room personnel, particularly during heavy turns
  • Oversee daily tower operations to ensure high-quality standards are maintained
  • Use guest comments to design additional training programs
  • Maintain and redesign the new hire program to ensure all new team members are trained appropriately
  • Attend staff meetings, pre-cons, and other special meetings as required
  • Write and submit yearly performance appraisals for team members
  • Complete special projects or assigned tasks related to housekeeping operations
  • Interact with guests to solve problems and ensure satisfaction
Requirements:
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Working knowledge of property management systems, including Amadeus or similar
  • Champion of guest service and building positive team spirit
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and team members at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation skills
Work Environment:

Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. The noise level is usually loud, and team members may be exposed to odors and secondhand smoke. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
