Position Details:
- Department: Psychiatry
- Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Employment Status: Exempt
- Location: University of Texas at Austin
Role Purpose:
The primary responsibility of this position is to collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for adults and transitional age youth experiencing bipolar disorder. This role encompasses:
- Conducting thorough assessments, including health histories and physical examinations.
- Formulating and executing treatment strategies, including medication management and patient education.
- Providing psychotherapy and utilizing evidence-based practices tailored to individual patient needs.
- Engaging in clinical research and trials to advance psychiatric care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patient health through interviews and examinations, ordering necessary diagnostic tests.
- Develop treatment plans that comply with medical guidelines and state regulations.
- Educate patients and families about treatment options and health promotion.
- Participate in clinical trials and research initiatives to enhance treatment efficacy.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care.
Qualifications:
- Active RN and APNP license in Texas, with board certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- At least one year of experience in psychiatric care, particularly with bipolar disorder.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years of experience in a psychiatric setting.
- Experience with clinical trials and value-based healthcare models.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
Compensation:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Working Environment:
Standard office conditions with potential exposure to biohazards and chemicals. Flexibility in work hours may be required.
