Job Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that the aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical personnel and patients to designated hospitals within the operational area. This includes adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and the General Operations Manual (GOM), as well as a thorough understanding of Air Methods' policies and procedures.
Key Duties Include:
- Operating Air Methods aircraft safely and legally.
- Conducting pre-flight inspections to verify the aircraft's airworthiness.
- Maintaining final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of all onboard.
- Ensuring familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems.
- Completing necessary documentation accurately.
- Engaging in detailed flight planning with minimal notice.
- Participating in company meetings and community outreach initiatives.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Regular attendance is essential for this position, and all employees must adhere to Air Methods' employment practices and policies.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of two to five years of related experience.
- Must maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds and be under 70 years of age.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues, EMS representatives, and the public.
- Recent flight experience within the last 24 months.
Flight Requirements:
- 2000 total flight hours with at least 1500 in category.
- 1000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in category.
- 500 hours of rotor wing turbine experience.
- 200 hours of cross-country flight time, including 50 hours at night.
- 100 hours of unaided night as PIC.
Certifications:
- Instrument rating for the category and class of aircraft.
- Commercial single-engine land rating for single-engine aircraft.
- First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate required.
