Position Summary:
The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care through patient-focused clinical services, medication education, and the safe preparation and distribution of medications. This role ensures that medication therapy is both effective and cost-efficient.
Utilizing advanced clinical judgment and expertise, the pharmacist contributes to the development and implementation of patient care plans based on clinical diagnoses in a timely manner.
Mentorship of Pharmacy Residents in an accredited residency program is a key responsibility.
Establishes trust and collaboration with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals through thorough patient assessments, vigilant monitoring, and clear communication.
Complies with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures to maintain patient privacy and safety while delivering high-quality care.

EDUCATION:
Doctorate:
Completion of a Doctor of Pharmacy program from an accredited institution.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
PHARMD - Licensed Pharmacist
OR PHARMR - Registered Pharmacist
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a clinical setting.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Ability to influence prescribing practices at the service-line level.
Proven experience in managing projects and initiatives that impact facility operations.
Qualifications to mentor Pharmacy Residents in an ASHP accredited program.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical names, calculations, and relevant laws and regulations.
Understanding of various pharmacy practice environments, including narcotic management and procedures.
Ability to utilize pharmaceutical and medical terminology, abbreviations, and symbols commonly used in medication management.
Familiarity with legal requirements and accreditation standards, including NABP, TJC, Title XXII, DHS, DEA, FDA, and USP.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences, including those without medical backgrounds.Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work within established procedures to meet objectives and deadlines.
Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), pharmaceutical technology, electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.Identify and resolve standard issues by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ensure the confidentiality of each patient's protected health information (PHI).
