Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Food Service Assistant to join our team at the Redwood City School District. As a key member of our food service team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food items in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including food preparation areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment, such as dishwashers, mixers, and ovens, safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare and serve food to students and staff, adhering to established procedures and portion control standards.
  • Count and manage cash, operate a cash register, and make change accurately.
  • Participate in inventory management, including receiving and stocking food and supplies.
  • Assist with breakfast and lunch count and money reconciliation.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above and one year experience in preparing, cooking, baking, and serving food in large quantities.
  • A valid Food Production Certificate (ServSafe) is required.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods. The successful candidate must be able to work cooperatively with others and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
