About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Specialist to join our team at Bethany. As a Youth Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing care, safety, and supervision to unaccompanied refugee and immigrant children. Your primary responsibility will be to create a welcoming and supportive environment, helping these children feel safe and assessed their needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional care and supervision to residents at bedtime and early morning
  • Mentor and provide therapeutic support to residents
  • Help facilitate intake of new clients when necessary
  • Complete required documentation throughout shift
  • Assist with light cleaning, laundry, organizing, filing, and other administrative tasks
  • Attend trainings and staff meetings

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
  • At least one-year prior experience working with youth or children is required
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license and at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries
  • Pass required medical examinations and have physical ability to fulfill essential job functions, including physical restraint of a resident
  • Pass an initial TB test
  • Subscribe to and integrate the agency Statement of Faith and Mission Statement
