Classroom Education Support Associate

Job Summary:
The Metro Nashville Public Schools Para-Educator will provide instructional support to teachers and students in a classroom setting. This role involves filling vacancies created by absent or leave-taking teachers and being flexible to meet the short-term and long-term needs of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform various instructional support tasks as assigned to facilitate the effective teaching of subject matter and maintain a proper classroom environment.
- Provide tutoring and intervention services for students as needed.
- Work with instructional leaders to plan daily lessons and adapt teaching methods to meet students' varying needs.
- Follow the daily schedule, class rolls, and other information provided by the classroom teacher or school administration.
- Proctor and grade examinations or lessons and enter results into the appropriate classroom records.
- Establish and enforce rules of behavior and procedures for maintaining effective classroom management.
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom.
- Establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships within the school environment and comply with all MNPS policies and state and federal laws.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
- 1-3 years of work experience.
- Ability to communicate with students, parents, and others.
- Basic understanding of current technology.
- Maintain student supervision and a safe learning environment.
