Job Title: Bilingual Mental Health Specialist

South Coast Children's Society, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bilingual Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our School Aged Treatment Program (SATS), you will provide rehabilitation and case management services to children and youth with mental health disorders.

Job Summary:

The Bilingual Mental Health Specialist will work closely with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to identify and implement resources, facilitate opportunities for skill development, and model and role-play scenarios to reduce functional impairments. This role requires a strong understanding of cultural sensitivity, trauma-informed practices, and a strength-based perspective.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide rehabilitation and case management services to clients, including therapy, case management, and rehabilitation services.
  • Work with clients to identify and implement resources, including social services, community resources, and other support systems.
  • Facilitate opportunities for skill development, including socialization, coping skills, and grounding techniques.
  • Model and role-play scenarios to reduce functional impairments and promote skill development.
  • Maintain accurate and proficient documentation, adhering to program and contract standards.
  • Coordinate with assigned clinicians to prioritize client needs and ensure seamless service delivery.
Requirements:
  • Must meet one of the following education/experience options:
  • Option 1: Thirty semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in behavioral or social science.
  • Option 2: Sixty semester (90 quarter) units of completed college coursework, including 15 semester (23 quarter) units in behavioral science.
  • Must meet one of the following experience options:
  • Option 1: One year of experience providing mental health services, including interviewing and referring clients and performing crisis intervention.
  • Option 2: Three years of experience in a behavioral health department, involving direct client contact.
  • Option 3: Applicants with a bachelor's degree in a behavioral science may qualify with six months of experience as described in Experience Option I or completion of a paid, formal internship in the Department of Behavioral Health's Social Work Intern Program with the County of San Bernardino.
  • Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Valid CA driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Completion of CPR/First Aid/ProACT certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle without restrictions, often in heavy traffic and frequently long distances to ensure safe transport to client settings and to safely transport clients to appointments as needed.
  • Senses of vision, hearing, and smell sufficient to regularly operate a motor vehicle, to visualize threats in the environment or risks to clients, and to operate safely in the field.
  • Required to occasionally lift and carry 10-20 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, climb stairs (1 or more flights), and walk while in route to and during family visits.
  • Regularly required to sit and use computer in office settings.
