Key Responsibilities- Support Veterinary Care: Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality care to pets, including preparing patients for exams and procedures, and maintaining a safe and clean hospital environment.
- Client Communication: Educate clients on pet health, wellness, and hospital services, and provide exceptional customer service to ensure a positive experience for all.
- Medical Charting: Accurately maintain and update medical records, and ensure that all necessary information is documented and easily accessible.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other support staff to ensure seamless communication and efficient workflow.
- Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve problems in a timely and professional manner, and provide solutions to improve processes and procedures.
- Certification: Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience: One year of related experience, with customer service skills preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography (x-ray) and exposure to radioactive substances.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in using a computer and specialized medical software, as well as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate up to 50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.
- Environmental Factors: Routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and occasionally exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
