Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Midwest Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in the care of patients in a clinic setting, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout their visit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and perform diagnostic ophthalmic tests and procedures, including visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry.
  • Accurately record patient information and update charts/records as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment, including sterilization and cleaning.
  • Interact with patients to gather information and enter it into our electronic medical records system.
  • Proactively engage patients in communicating what to expect with the visit and continue to communicate delays or any other changes.
  • Initiate and perform documentation of the patient's chief complaint, present illness, and captures past medical history.
  • Conduct tests and measures eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity.
  • Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
  • Assist with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections, and laser treatments.
  • Educate patients regarding the administration of medications and pre and post-operative instructions.
  • Readily scribe for physicians and secure patient information while maintaining patient confidence.
  • Utilize effective problem-solving skills to respectfully and efficiently de-escalate any dissatisfied patients.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
