Radiologic Imaging Specialist

The Radiologic Technologist plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and medical staff by properly preparing exam rooms and equipping them with necessary protective gear. This professional educates patients about the purpose of scans and answers their questions, while also observing monitors for abnormalities during scans and producing detailed reports for attending doctors to interpret.
Key Responsibilities:- Welcoming and escorting patients to exam rooms.
- Utilizing beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
- Positioning x-ray equipment and adjusting controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance.
- Positioning patients on examining tables and setting up equipment to obtain optimal views of specific body areas as requested by providers.
- Interviewing patients and recording their chief complaints, past and present medical histories, social histories, family histories, medication histories, vital signs, and other relevant information.
- Preparing patients and assisting physicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Preparing and administering medications and injections after verifying correct dosages.
- Observing, recording, and reporting patients' conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to providers.
- Preparing examination rooms, sterilizing instruments, and thoroughly cleaning equipment and examination rooms according to established procedures.
- Notifying and recording patients of test results as directed by providers.
- Instructing patients on medication and treatment instructions and discharging them.
- Posting tests and examination results to charts.
- Determining patients' x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from providers.
- Making exposures necessary for requested procedures and rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
- Processing exposed radiographs using film processors or computer-generated methods.
- Explaining procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
- Preparing and setting up x-ray rooms for patients, sterilizing instruments, and thoroughly cleaning equipment and examination rooms.
- Responsible for maintaining OSHA regulations in x-ray rooms.
- Assisting in maintaining all equipment according to appropriate regulations.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times and demonstrating complete discretion when discussing patient information.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- ARRT and LSRT license (Required)
- Current BLS certification
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts
