We are seeking a highly skilled Orthopedic Technologist II to join our team at Sharp HealthCare. As an Orthopedic Technologist II, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and assisting surgeons during orthopedic procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients, staff, and physicians to maintain a high level of efficiency and customer service while providing quality care to a designated patient population.
- Perform duties at an expert level in the operating room and clinical setting under the direction of the Surgeon.
- Apply knowledge and skill level within scope of practice, fully successful in performing/assisting with all tests and procedures in assigned department.
- Prepare patient for examination or procedure, obtain complete and accurate consent for procedures/surgery, and accurately document patient care per protocol.
- Participate in clinical projects as directed by the physician or manager, and partner with physicians to continuously learn and expand clinical knowledge base.
- Utilize proper casting techniques, instruct patients in cast care and danger signs, and provide surgical assistant support in the operating room and assists with office procedures.
- Assure operating room suite has proper equipment, x-rays, surgical pallets, and reports, and assist with general office/patient functions, including assisting with patient phone calls and ordering.
- Completion of orthopedic technology program or other equivalent program (such as military training program).
- Experience applying casts, splints, and braces, and performing in the operating room as first and second assistant or scrub technician under the direct supervision of a surgeon.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED.
- Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC) - National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists - REQUIRED.
- 5 Years Full-time work experience in a hospital, clinic, or office setting; or as an independent contractor working directly in the care of orthopedics patients.
