Job Title: Grant Writing Consultant

Lexipol is seeking a highly skilled Grant Writing Consultant to join our team. As a Grant Writing Consultant, you will play a key role in assisting our Grants Team in the fulfillment of grant writing services contracts, grant consulting, grant research, and reviews.

About the Role

The Grant Writing Consultant will be responsible for narrative writing, research, and consulting with agencies and communities one-on-one regarding Fire and EMS grant programs. This role will work closely with a Grants Team Project Manager to assist in the fulfillment and successful completion of contracted grant projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Narrative Writing and Development (40%): Provide support and guidance to the project manager and agencies by developing comprehensive narratives. Narratives will be delivered professionally, timely, and free of grammar errors.
  • Consulting & Research (60%): Advise, consult, problem solve, and research potential grant programs for the departments, agencies, and governments we serve. Meet with agencies one-on-one to discuss projects and recommend potential grant opportunities.
Requirements
  • Availability and flexibility during daytime hours for consultation calls and communicating with the grants team
  • Proven Track Record: Two or more years of professional grant writing and consulting experience within Fire and EMS sectors
  • Proposal Development: Excellent writing, editing, and research skills with the ability to craft clear and persuasive narratives
  • Writing Fire and EMS Grants: Experience writing for programs like the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG), Fire Prevention & Safety (FP&S) Grant, and/or the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant
  • Applicant Background: Strong knowledge of federal, state, and foundation grant processes, particularly grants that benefit fire departments and EMS agencies
  • Grant Research: Conduct comprehensive research to identify grant opportunities from state and federal government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources relevant to fire and EMS agencies
Preferred Experience
  • Grant Management: Familiarity with grant administrative best practices
  • Proficiencies: Experience working with various CRM databases
Target Outcomes/Target Results
  • 20-25% success rate in having competitive national grants awarded
  • 95% narrative completion rate: fulfilling accepted projects in timelines assigned by project manager

Compensation and Benefits

This is a contract-based, remote, seasonal hourly position that pays $35 to $45 per hour based on experience.
