Port Operations Director

Analyze and direct activities to ensure successful launch operations and scheduling. Special projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Scheduling Coordinator on customer interactions, job scheduling, and labor management.
- Develop work procedures, train, and expedite workflow for the scheduling coordinator.
- Assign tasks and monitor work for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Evaluate compliance with APHIS and Department of Agriculture regulations regarding waste disposal. Monthly records must be submitted.
- Oversee Launch Services operations, including managing boat crews and the scheduling coordinator.
- Visit current and future customers as needed.
- Assist in resolving customer complaints and grievances.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of crew license requirements and ensure compliance.
- Evaluate equipment training for the crews and ensure they are properly trained.
- Verify that vessels meet regulatory requirements for drills and maintenance.
- Work with a third-party maintenance company to ensure all maintenance is up-to-date and compliant with Coast Guard and company standards.
- Coordinate with the maintenance company to ensure drydocking of vessels proceeds according to plan.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Knowledge and Skills
- Respond to special problems or constraints affecting operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; HELM training will be provided.
- Familiarity with navigation points, facility information, berths, and channel check points.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, remaining calm under pressure.
- Excellent phone etiquette.
Education and Experience
- Associates degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school; OR 5 years of related experience and/or training; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: USCG license holder with maritime experience.
- Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and a valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 pounds, exert force constantly to move objects, and lift up to 150 pounds occasionally.
- Close visual acuity required for tasks like analyzing figures, reading computer terminals, extensive reading, visual inspection, and using measurement devices.
- Exposed to environmental conditions indoors and outdoors with no effective protection from weather, loud noises, physical hazards, and large bodies of water.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach.
Working Conditions
- This position is based in Port Arthur, TX.
- Works near others, usually within a few feet.
- May be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels from office equipment.
- Requires repetitive motion, including talking, grasping, pointing, and sitting.
- Outdoors and indoors, day and night, with potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks and airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
