Nurse Practitioner-IP Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist

UC San Diego Health is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Bone Marrow Transplant team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary care team, you will provide primary medical management for oncology/BMT patients, leading by example and demonstrating professional image and leadership core competencies.
Key Responsibilities- Provide primary medical management for oncology/BMT patients under the direction of the Bone Marrow Transplant attending physician and APP Supervisor.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to promote consistent medical management of patients across the healthcare continuum.
- Perform specialized procedures such as bone marrow biopsy, lumbar puncture, and skin biopsy.
- Present patient cases during daily rounds and at weekly BMT Clinical meetings.
- Provide patient/family and staff education.
- Support the development and revision of BMT divisional policies and procedures.
- Participate in and/or initiate research.
- Participate in community outreach and networking with community physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Must be a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and California NP Furnishing License Certification.
- Current Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) Certification (AGACNP or ACNP).
- BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Minimum one (1) year recent work experience as Nurse Practitioner in Hem/Onc/BMT, Emergency Department, or adult critical care.
- Thorough knowledge of BMT process and hematological blood cancers, including knowledge of pathology of patient population, expected outcomes, normal and abnormal lab results.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the medical as well as psych-social needs of a patient population with cancer.
- AOCN (Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse)/AOCNP certification.
- One to two years of recent inpatient Hem/Onc/BMT experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Knowledge of administration of chemotherapy and other common blood & marrow transplant medications.
- Experience in quality improvement.
- Experience in working with Clinical Trials and ability to identify potential Clinical Trials patients.
Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges and maintain during employment.
Due to advanced practice credentialing eligibility, clinical advanced practice experience must be within the last two years.
