Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced nursing professional to join our faculty team as an Assistant Professor of Nursing. This is a tenure-track position that requires a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of courses in the discipline of Nursing, including lecture, clinical instruction, and campus lab instruction.
  • Develop and implement curriculum, syllabus materials, and lesson plans that align with the department's standards and approved curriculum guides.
  • Supervise, counsel, and evaluate students in clinical settings.
  • Participate fully in departmental activities, events, and college governance.
  • Hold regular office hours and participate in recruitment, community outreach, and retention of students.
  • Act as a liaison between the College, students, and clinical agencies.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in nursing.
  • Current license or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  • One year of professional experience providing direct patient care as a bedside RN within the past five years in Behavioral Health or Medical-Surgical nursing.
  • Eligible for approval as a Behavioral Health or Medical-Surgical instructor by the California State Board of Nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commitment to a student-centered learning college.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in Nursing and its instructional program.
  • Experience working as an educator in Behavioral Health Nursing and Medical-Surgical nursing.
  • Experience in other nursing disciplines: Geriatrics, Psychiatric or Medical-Surgical.
  • Experience in engagement with the college and broader community.
  • Experience with learning management systems or teaching distance/online education classes.
