UPMC Somerset is a leading healthcare provider seeking skilled Medical Nursing Specialists to join its Acute Care units. If you're looking for a fast-paced and exciting career with opportunities to work in various fields, this role could be ideal for you.

The Acute Care department consists of two units: Cardiology Medicine and Surgical Acute Care. These positions involve rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends. Employees are cross-trained to work on both units and may be required to float as needed.

**Salary:** Estimated annual salary is around $65,000-$85,000 based on experience and qualifications.

This role offers many benefits, including:

  • Prioritizing patient problems through critical thinking and developing individualized care plans
  • Administering medications and performing treatments/procedures following medical plan protocols
  • Initiating and managing peripheral IV administration and maintenance fluid administration within state regulations and hospital standards
  • Cultivating a positive work environment by fostering constructive communication and relationships

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A Practical Nursing Program approved by the State Board of Nursing
  • Basic Arrhythmia Course upon hire or within 6 months
  • One year general medical/surgical (acute care) experience in an acute care setting preferred

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification
  • Act 34
