Job Summary

At King's Daughters, we are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting occupational therapy programs to facilitate the development and rehabilitation of individuals with cognitive, physical, or emotional disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess patients to establish treatment plans and select purposeful activities suited to their physical capacity, cognitive level, and interests.
• Collaborate with other healthcare team members to select the most appropriate activity programs for patients and facilitate their ability to improve functional, vocational, and homemaking skills and activities of daily living.
• Re-evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make revisions as needed, evaluating the need for treatment discontinuation or discharge and recommending appropriate continuum of care when maximal potential has been achieved.
• Instruct patients and families in treatments to be continued at home and supervise patient treatments to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and follow progress, updating goals as necessary.
• Document assessment, plan, treatment, and goals in the electronic medical record system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Active licensure in the State of Kentucky as an Occupational Therapist
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Working Environment

The Occupational Therapist will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection, occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, and occasionally exposed to risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

The Occupational Therapist will be required to maintain a stationary position, walk and move about, operate a computer and other equipment, use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices, and lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds. The Occupational Therapist will also be required to communicate with patients and other care team members, requiring talking and hearing, and will need to position themselves to meet patient needs.
